Bridle Path Stable is seeking mature, enthusiastic, and fun-loving individuals who are passionate about horses, children, and outdoor activities to join our team for the summer!
This is not your ordinary horse summer camp! Staff members will guide participants in horsemanship, Equine Assisted Learning Programs, riding lessons, arts and crafts, as well as various outdoor recreation and sports activities.
This employment opportunity is under the Canada Student Summer Grants all applications must be between the ages of 15-30 years old as a grant requirement at the start of employment.
Camp Dates June 29 – Aug 29
* staff training will take place prior dates to be determined
30- 40 hrs per week
Schedules may vary and staff could be scheduled for shifts Sunday – Saturday
Must be available to work the full weeks of the summer from June 29 – Aug 29 with a break week from Aug 4-8
Assist in program planning, registration, staff scheduling, and supervision
Assist with Special Events (clinics, birthday parties, Shows etc)
Supervisor children/youth in programs
Direct leadership and instruction for group programs (sports/recreation/equine/outdoor activities)
Instruct Riding Lessons + Assist with facilitation of Equine Assisted Learning Programs
Safety & Supervision of program participants & facility
General Stable Duties, Maintenance, and Horse Care
Set up and take down of equipment & facility as needed
Assist with special events
Potential opportunity to work year-round for the right candidate
Able to lift 25kg
Qualifications
· 18+ Yrs old as this is a supervisory position
· 2+ Year’s experience working with Children/Youth in recreation programs
· 4+ years experience with horses
· Experience in a leadership role an asset
· Experience instructing horseback riding
· Rider Level 3+ (English ) or similar levels or combination of experience
· Equine Rider Levels (asset)
· Standard First Aid + CPR C * to be completed by start date
· HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification (asset)
· Equine Canada Learn to Teach (asset)
· Equine Rider Levels (asset)
· Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Certificate of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check – Dated in last 3 months if hired
· Experience in planning and implementing programming in a group setting and the ability to instruct various sports, outdoor activities, arts/crafts and low organized games
· Candidates possessing an equivalent combination of education and experience that is deemed acceptable may be considered
